Time Magazine to launch Canadian version

The new venture, called Time Canada, set to debut this Fall, will combine original Canadian reporting with selected content from Time’s global newsroom. The 103-year-old American magazine is launching a licensed Canadian edition in partnership with Toronto-based ArtsHouse Media Group, the firm behind Billboard Canada and Rolling Stone Canada. Six full-time and four part-time staff will publish one print edition annually, and quarterly digital issues alongside video content, social media coverage, and live events.
Time CEO Jessica Sibley said that the media brand has long focused on the leaders and ideas shaping the world, and that its expansion into Canada marks the next expression of that mission. She called Canada “one of the most exciting markets today.” For decades, Time published a Canadian edition that was a combination of Canadian and U.S. content, but it was scrapped in 2008. Time also recently launched editions in France and Africa, and said it now reaches more than 100 million people globally across all of its platforms.
