Isabelle Marcoux, chair of the board of Transcontinental, has been tapped as one of Canada's most influential women of the year by the Women's Executive Network (WXN).

As a recipient of the Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 award, Marcoux is being recognized for her "strategic vision and leadership," community involvement and Transcontinental's financial success, said a Transcontinental release.

Marcoux was appointed as chair of the board in 2007. Previously she worked as Transcontinental's vice president, corporate development for the company. She is also director of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and will serve as Patron of Honour for the 2012 Children's Ball of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation.

The annual awards have been presented for the past decade and Marcoux is one of 653 other women who have been honoured. "They are dynamic, committed and inspiring leaders who blaze new trails for future generations," said WXN founder Pamela Jeffrey in the release.
