Finally, the NMAF is responding to all those calls from the magazine industry for more categories at their not-nearly-interminable-and-diluted-enough awards show. Is there anyone left in the country who's ever written a printed word who's not going to be asked to judge?

I hope this was thought through with much clarity. I assume then that the word magazine does not refer only to 'print', as it has for decades. The magazine industry is struggling enough without the biggest supporters or our industry jumping on the web bandwagon. The 'print' industry needs support. We need people and organizations such as the NMAF to rally behind print magazines. Not leave. Clearly the reason why magazines ( four Conde Nast titles just fell including Gourmet) is because of the web. I appreciate the new importance of the web, but I also do not want to see our vital and important magazine and newspaper industries disappear. Leave the web to those who have pioneered it. Having web categories is merely an effort to feel included. I think the NMAF should do the opposite and make it darn clear to Canadians why print is still vital to our industry, culture and country.
