Annex Business Media beefs up security with magazine acquisitions
THIS STORY HAS BEEN UPDATED: Annex Business Media has beefed up security by acquiring four B2B titles from KAP Media.

Annex, based in Simcoe, ON, has secured Security Matters, Security Products Canada, Sécurité Québec, and SecurityPages.ca from the Thornhill-based publisher.

"Alongside Annex’s existing security related titles — SP&T News and Canadian Security — the acquired titles strengthen Annex’s position as the leading publisher of security-related content in Canada, both in print and online," reads a release.

Paul Grossinger, founder and president of KAP Media "and long-time security sector journalist," has joined Annex in the position of group publisher — security media.

“I am excited to join one of Canada’s most successful media companies,” said Grossinger. “I look forward to growing Annex’s security media division, and creating new opportunities for members of Canada’s expanding security industry to communicate with one another.”

Annex president, Mike Fredericks, added, “This is a double win for Annex. We’ve strengthened our position in the security market, while adding industry depth to our management team. Paul’s experience and knowledge in this sector will be a great asset in our service to the security sector.”

Other KAP titles, including Friday Night magazine, are still listed on KAP's website. Grossinger said Friday Night continues with an online presence and a weekly newsletter under the direction of David Bale, while Canada Camps (a B2B launched in 2003) and Canada Camps for Parents (consumer launched in 2006) will be shopped to other publishers following their winter editions.

Annex Business Media said it is Canada's largest privately owned business-to-business media company, with 46 B2B brands reaching business communities through print, news websites, enews, events, video, and social media.
