Parents' Choice Awards honour 7 Canadian magazines
Since 1978 The Parents' Choice Awards Committee—made up of a panel of scientists, parents, educators, librarians and performing artists—have honoured the best children’s material, including but not limited to books, toys, music, magazines, television and websites.

This year in its magazine category, 7 Canadian publications were recognized:
  • Brainspace magazine received a Gold award
  • Chirp magazine received a Gold award
  • chickaDEE Magazine received a Silver award
  • Owl magazine received a Silver award
  • WILD received a Parents' Choice Recommended Seal
  • ZAMOOF! Received a Parents' Choice Recommended Seal
  • Kayak: Canada's History Magazine for Kids received a Parents' Choice Approved Seal

“It's an incredible honor to be chosen by parents. Being selected in the US is a big deal and we're already getting attention as a result. When we started this magazine a year and a half ago, our goal was to push learning beyond the classroom and to breathe life into magazines for kids. The review from the Washington Post writer validated that we're walking our talk. And they really like it.” — Nicky Middleton, publisher of Brainspace.

"Such wonderful news for our production team here at ZAMOOF! to make the list for the Parent’s Choice Recommended Seal. Much credit goes to our talented team who have put their heart into the pages for many years, along with the awesome youth readers who give us feedback and submissions that truly make working on the title so rewarding. We are extremely pleased and it gives us that much more momentum to continue making a difference in the lives of our young readers for many more years to come!" —TeLeni Koochin, publisher of ZAMOOF! magazine
