The Canadian Journalism Collective (CJC) claims portal for Settlement Year 2025 will open on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Any news businesses wishing to submit their claim for compensation from Google under the Online News Act can do so then. The deadline to submit claims is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Payments are anticipated by the Spring of 2027. Submissions are assessed across three ‘pillars’ of eligibility – the news business, the news outlet, and newsroom employees.

To ensure that every claimant has all the necessary information well ahead of the portal’s opening date, the CJC is hosting a series of information sessions. Each session addresses a specific profile of claimants as outlined in the Online News Act, focusing on the relevant aspects of the program framework and the claims process.
