Canadian Florist under new ownership

Annex Business Media has announced the sale of Canadian Florist magazine.

Strider Media— which is run by Ryan Freeman, a fifth generation florist and a marketing expert in the floral industry—purchased the publication.

“Florists in Canada owe a lot to the team at Annex Media,” Freeman, said. “For over 20 years they have been the source of industry news, design trends, and have helped to elevate our home grown talent. Now we are proud – and humbled – to take on the 110 years of tradition that come with the Canadian Florist brand.”

Freeman has also acquired the brands digital properties, which include the website and Florist Business Forum. The sale closed on Jan. 14 and all existing Canadian Florist staff have moved to other projects within Annex Business Media.

"Canadian Florist has a long history of fulfilling the needs of the retail floral market and Annex is proud to have been part of that history," Scott Jamieson, group publisher of Canadian Florist said. "We thank our loyal readers for all of their support over the years, and are confident that Ryan's perspective as an Internet savvy florist will serve the industry well in the years to come."
