It's the same old story, print magazines are losing sales. But there are some bright spots in the BPA (CCAB) consumer data report covering up to June 30.

Of the 41 Canadian consumer titles reported, 26 have seen an overall decline (albeit mostly small losses) in circulation from the same period last year.

But here are some winners: Homefront, a lifestyle-focused controlled-circ magazine from BCS Communications, saw a 46% leap in total circ (29,440 copies from 20,169) including 724 single copy sales; and that's only up until March 31.

Successes on the newsstand include Vélo Québec outdoor mag Géo Plein Air with a 23.7% increase in single copy sales (3,204 from 2,590 as of March 31) and Baby Boomer Bible Zoomer which boosted newsstand sales 35.2% (16,369 from 12,106 up until March 31).

ABC also recently released its consumer magazine circ report for the first half of 2012, showing paid subscriptions were down 5.9% collectively among the 66 titles reporting. That report showed Chatelaine and Canadian Living both made modest gains of just over 1% in circ, while Chatelaine's French edition posted a gain of 2.3%.
