SavvyMom taps national blogging talent to launch 'social content curation' platform
SavvyMom Media is tapping into the talents of blogging moms in Canada with the launch of SavvyStories, a content curation platform that will mean revenue opportunities for the writers involved.
In the first phase of SavvyStories, "we are not offering a revenue sharing opportunity per se," said Sarah Morgenstern, publisher of SavvyMom. "Whatever monetization tools the blogger has in place already will be enhanced by the additional traffic that their presence on SavvyStories will drive for them."
The SavvyStories platform allows for a "split-page" technology, "whereby we can serve ads on the page and the blogger's content and any ads on their site will also appear," she noted. "Within the next few months, we plan to offer ad sales services to those bloggers wishing to take part who are not currently selling ads on their blog and will be conducting this on a revenue-share basis."
The 'Atomic Reach' platform allows bloggers to submit content for review by the SavvyMom editorial team. "The first group of [20] bloggers received invitations from our editorial team to register as a storyteller and get set up as contributors... and we are actively continuing our research to get more on board over the next few months."
The SavvyStories content appears first on the blogger's home account, and they choose the best of their work to submit, noted Morgenstern. "We also have a suite of first-run bloggers... many of them well-known parenting experts such as Ann Douglas."
SavvyMom Media offers weekly national and city e-newsletters, monthly EatSavvy, ShopSavvy and PartySavvy e-newsletters, ShareSavvy.ca, a user-driven review site, and the annual SavvyMom Entrepreneur of the Year Award, a four month readers’ choice award celebrating mom-run small businesses [the award runs every year from May to September; voting takes place over four months to crown that year's winner].
SavvyMom recently extended its reach into Western Canada with the purchase of Vibe Family Publications. SavvyMom is owned by Morgenstern and business partner Minnow Hamilton (who also serves as managing editor).
