Readers Digest announces content partnership with MSN.ca
Reader’s Digest has announced an English and French content partnership with MSN.ca. The deal means lifestyle and travel content from Sélection.ca and RD.ca , as well as from the print magazines will be syndicated on the Microsoft-owned MSN.ca.

The year-to-year contract deal has accelerated existing plans to increase the travel content on Sélection.ca, says Reader’s Digest vice president, digital media and strategic partnerships Yann Paquet. “It makes more sense to accelerate the launch of the travel section on Sélection.ca because of the partnership with MSN.ca,” he says. “Because they want more travel content for their French channel.”

Paquet says Reader’s Digest’s writing contracts include information on use of work for multiple platforms and wouldn’t comment on rate variations for using material on more than one site in partnerships such as this one.

The deal with MSN.ca, for Reader’s Digest and Sélection is different than the one Reader’s Digest-published Best Health has had with Sympatico.ca to provide fitness and health content for the site since the summer of 2009, says Paquet. “We don’t own the section on MSN.ca like we do with the Best Health/Sympatico deal,” he says. “But the Best Health partnership has been so successful that the next step was to find one for Reader’s Digest and Sélection.”
