Victoria-based science magazines for youth close
Victoria-based magazines Yes Mag and Know, science publications geared to kids/teenagers, have apparently shut down.
A source told Masthead that the award-winning magazines, both published six times a year by Peter Piper Publishing [Mad Science Publications], had ceased operating Feb. 1. A call to the magazines' office determined the line was no longer in service, while clicking on the subscription service online returns a message of 'Sorry, our store is offline for maintenance'.
An email from Masthead to the publisher has not yet been returned.
Know is geared to kids aged six to nine, while Yes Mag is intended for readers aged 10-15.
The source told Masthead "the effect upon Canadian nonfiction children's writers and illustrators will be felt for many years to come. These magazines served to promote the work of children's science writers."

Peter Piper Publishing has ceased operations as of February 2012.
Due to current market conditions of the publishing industry combined with the decline in subscriptions, it became extremely challenging to maintain the operations of the magazine. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause.
