Back-to-work legislation expected today in Parliament
Legislation that would end the lockout by Canada Post of its postal workers is expected to be introduced in Parliament this afternoon.
Canada Post on June 15 locked out its workers after 12 days of rotating strikes. The decision to lock out staff was explained in a video featuring Canada Post's president and CEO Deepak Chopra.
Last Wednesday, Federal Labour Minister Lisa Raitt gave 48 hours notice of her intention to introduce a bill to end the lockout, with the date of the legislation pushed to today at the earliest as the House of Commons didn't sit Friday.
A bill relating to back-to-work legislation is expected at 3 p.m. in the House of Commons today.
The last day of Parliament is June 23 before the House of Commons recesses for the summer.
