Advertising Standards Canada reports few complaints about mag ads
Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) released its Ad Complaints Report – 2010 Year In Review on April 6, 2011. The news for advertisers in magazines is good – of 1,200 complaints received by ASC, only 24 (or 2% of total) were directed at magazine-based ads.

Television drew the vast majority of complaints issued, claiming 44% of the pie, followed by out-of-home adverts such as billboards and public transit ads with 17% of complaints received.

"Consumers continue to scrutinize advertising with a critical eye and inform us when they feel advertising is inaccurate or misleading," stated Janet Feasby, Vice President, Standards. “The number of complaints we receive about magazines is insignificant.”
