ABC changes requirements for digital magazines
The Audit Bureau of Circulations has responded to advances in digital publishing by changing the requirements for qualifying consumer magazines as replica digital editions.
ABC now says while editorial and photography in digital replica editions must be the same as print copies, advertising may differ between the two mediums. Publishers are also no longer required to secure an opt-out confirmation from advertisers who are unable to submit reformatted digital files, or simply don’t want print ads to appear in digital editions, according to a release from ABC.
Replica digital editions which meet the new ABC standards will continue to qualify as paid circulation and be credited towards the rate base, according to ABC.
