Upper management shake-up at Rogers
Ken Whyte, busy man.
Big changes at Rogers today: Ken Whyte, publisher and editor of Maclean’s, has been appointed publisher of Canadian Business, Profit and Moneysense, while Chatelaine publisher Kerry Mitchell has been given additional responsibilities as the new publisher of Flare. Mitchell is also now the executive publisher of Cosmetics, Cosmétiques, Glow and Pure magazines. Deborah Rosser and Orietta Minatel, publishers, respectively, of the Canadian Business group and Flare, have been let go by Rogers Publishing Inc.

According to a note sent to Rogers staff by Marc Blondeau, senior vice president of consumer publishing for Rogers, the reorganization “will allow us to better align our resources against strategies for growing our brands, our audiences and our market share, while also streamlining the way we operate.
“With this new management structure in place, our vice-presidents and publishers will work to optimize the value of individual brands by leveraging the audience segments those brands serve—in digital and print.  They will work with our centralized teams to build upon our core areas of strength (the women’s audience, the current affairs and business audience, the parenting audience) while identifying and filling gaps where they exist.”
Rosser has been in the business for over 20 years and has served as publisher of CB since 2002. Minatel was with Flare for more than two decades, becoming publisher in 2006. Flare is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

"News of this sort is never easy to share, but in these cases in particular, I know how much we’ll miss not only their professional leadership, but also their personal warmth," Blondeau wrote in his note.
