Alberta Oil has changed hands.
|
Venture Publishing Inc. has taken control of Alberta Oil, a three-and-half-year-old trade publication that covers Alberta’s energy sector. The magazine was launched by Skinnyfish Media in December 2004.
“Alberta Oil is a great fit for Venture," president and publisher Ruth Kelly said in a press release. "It complements our existing roster of business publications and will allow us to drill deeper on this vital sector of Alberta'seconomy. We look forward to bringing our expertise to this already strong magazine and to increasing its value to its 60,000 influential business readers."
Venture, which publishes the consumer titles Alberta Venture and unlimited, along with a number of custom magazines, has announced a number of changes it has made and will make to Alberta Oil. They include:
- The appointment of Gordon Jaremko as editor. Jaremko's experience includes 25 years at the Calgary Herald, four years at the Edmonton Journal and seven years as the editor of Oilweek magazine.
- An increase in frequency, from quarterly to bimonthly.
- A redesign to be headed by Malcolm Brown, Venture’s creative director, who was recently honoured for his work on unlimited at the National Magazine Awards (Best Art Direction for an Entire Issue).
