As previously reported by Masthead, CPA Magazine grew out of CMA magazine and CAmagazine, both of which ceased publication last year. The new title reflects the merger of associated trade groups and the creation of a new professional designation.
"This magazine aims to be a dynamite, kick-asset, highly informative and entertaining source for business professionals in Canada," wrote CPA's Okey Chigbo in an editor's note. "In other words, it is not only going to give you what you liked best about your legacy magazines, it is going to give you much more."
While the title targets accountants, its content will not be "too accounting," said Chigbo, featuring news bits along with fuller articles and columns. Along with a feature on Twitter's Stewart, the first issue includes articles on cyber security and Bombardier's new CSeries jet, and a column on art forgeries.
Total distribution tallies 182,117 copies and a full page ad costs $12,500.
