The Manitoba Magazine Publishers Association has announced the nominees for this year's Maggie awards—a celebration of the province's magazine industry.

 

During the event, awards will be handed out in 15 categories and Canadian History magazine and Prairie Fire are leading the pack with 8 nominations each. Among the categories are best short fiction, best single issue, magazine of the year and the people’s choice category— which received almost 1,000 votes from readers.

 

The 2014 Maggie awards takes place on Oct. 2 at the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are still available.
