Random House of Canada's online magazine Hazlitt launched its first print edition this week, featuring original pieces and a collection of the site's "greatest hits."
The one-of-a-kind issue is being distributed at bookstores, newsstands and speciality retailers in Canada for a cover price of $17.95, as well as other markets including the U.S., England, Japan and Hong Kong.
Edited by Christopher Frey with art direction by designer Jeremy Laing, the 160-page publication features the work of George Saunders, Jhumpa Lahiri, Sheila Heti, Michael Winter, Sarah Nicole Prickett and more.
Hazlitt launched in August 2012 and pegs its monthly reach at approximately 150,000 unique visitors. The site won three Gold Medals at the 2012 National Magazine Awards and recently took home a prize for Best Online-Only Publication at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards.
In addition to its magazine content, Hazlitt produces The Arcade, a biweekly podcast covering arts, culture and news; a video series of author interviews called Pageclicker; and fiction and non-fiction e-shorts under the imprint Hazlitt Originals.
