MediaFinder reports four launches, two closures for Canadian magazines in 2015
According to MediaFinder, in 2015, 113 magazines launched, compared to 190 magazines in 2014. During the same time period, 35 magazines closed compared to 99 magazines in 2014.

“Although the number of magazine closures was down this year, it is disappointing that the number of magazine launches from last year could not be sustained this year,” Trish Hagood, president of Oxbridge Communications, Inc. and, said.

Among the launches in the U.S., are Bake from Scratch, Beekman 1802 Almanac and Nickelodeon. There were 10 food magazines launched, 10 lifestyle magazines, eight auto magazines, five children’s magazines, five home magazines and five travel magazines. Closures in 2015 include All You, Details and National Journal.

For Canadian magazines, there were four new launches, including Explore the Possibilities in Northern Ontario and two closures, including Backbone.

MediaFinder is an online database of U.S. and Canadian periodicals with information on 77,000 magazines, journals, newspapers, newsletters, directories and catalogs.
