HuffPost Canada staff files to unionize

CWA Canada represents 6,000 workers at the CBC, The Canadian Press, APTN, and newspapers and other companies across the country.

The staff has formed a union organizing committee which will address these main issues:
Fair compensation, including salary minimums, pay scales that reflect equal pay for work of equal value, clear paths to promotions and raises, retirement savings plans, and better benefits;
Fair notice for layoffs, and severance packages;
Fair treatment of contractors, including job security, permanent employment after an established time, fair pay, and benefits;
Fair diversity policies that formalize hiring diverse staff and improve newsroom diversity.
