Google Play launches Android newsstand
The new Google Play Newsstand provides Android phone and tablet users with subscription access to digital magazines from St. Joseph Media, Rogers, Hearst, Conde Nast and others.
The service boasts nearly 2,000 free and paid full-length publications, including newspapers, news sites and blogs. Among the homegrown offerings listed on the online storefront are Toronto Life, Sportsnet, Chatelaine, Elle Canada, The Walrus, Quill & Quire, L'actualité and Outdoor Canada.
The Play Newsstand app can be downloaded from Google Play, and Canadians already using the Google Play Magazines app will be upgraded to Google Play Newsstand over the next few days.
