Entries open for 2013 Editors' Choice Awards

The Editors' Choice Awards, presented by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors (CSME), has put out its call for submissions. The awards "honour and celebrate the high-quality work of editors within the Canadian magazine industry." The submissions process closes Friday, March 8, and is open to all CSME members.

Awards will be handed out in Small (under 50,000), Medium (50,000 to 149,999) and Large (over 150,000) circulation categories, as well as Trade and Custom magazine categories (open to all circ levels). Additional awards include Best Front of Book, The Jim Cormier Award for Display Writing, Best Website, Best Editorial Blog, and Editor of the Year.

Entries must include six copies of three consecutive 2012 issues, six copies of the magazine's mission statement, plus website and blog address if applicable. The winning entries will be announced June 5 at MagNet 2013, at the Editors' Gala. Download the entry form and guidelines at the CSME website.

On Feb. 11 in Toronto at the Dominion on Queen, CSME will host its first 2013 event, featuring a panel of past Editors' Choice winners: Matt Blackett from Spacing, Peter Carter from Today's Trucking, and Outdoor Canada's Patrick Walsh. The event was originally slated for Jan. 28 but was rescheduled.
