Submissions open for 2012 National Magazine Awards
The doors have opened for publishers to submit their best magazine work from 2011 to the National Magazine Awards.

Submissions opened on Dec. 1 at www.magazine-awards.com. Magazines and freelancers are invited to submit work in one or more of 45 categories.

New for this year, the National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF) board have made several changes including amended categories and rules clarifications. Most categories are now open to digital as well as print, noted a release, which adds there are also separate visual categories for fashion and beauty, while the category of conceptual photography has been renamed creative photography with an updated definition. Also, there are categories for best new magazine writer and best new visual creator.

The foundation is looking for new judges to serve on English, French and bilingual juries for several categories.

The submission deadline is Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at 5 p.m. ET. The awards are scheduled for June 7, 2012.

The National Magazine Awards Foundation is a bilingual, not-for-profit institution. To see a Masthead story about last year's winners, click here.
