These were two of Rogers' most loyal hard-working employees, who always toed the company line. Ironic, isn't it? Sends a good message to hard workers.

I believe the title of this article is incorrect. It's not a case of these employees leaving Rogers, but Rogers leaving them. While the usual chopping is in the lower ranks, once again, it's a case of the well known Rogers' disposable "thanks for your effort, loyalty and trust, but you've outlived your usefulness, so good bye". One of the current Masthead articles/comments mentions loyalty. Sorry Rogers, you once again have proven your lack of loyalty to anyone within your own organization. The irony here however is, I wonder how many people got the "good bye talk" from Kathryn and Kerry. A good lesson here for all of us to learn! Treat others like you wish to be treated. As I look back, I regret not having had the courage to say to my management I did not agree with the terminations they demanded, and stood by my convictions. Somehow, I doubt this will ever happen to the Rogers brass

Kathryn was one of the few sensible and human senior execs at Rogers. Real shame. She will land on her feet.

To Yvan #6: There are very good reasons people don't use their real names, and there's nothing wrong with it as long as the comments are kept professional in nature and do not get personal. Every major online publication does this -- Globe, for example -- so it's an accepted practice.
What would you rather, there be zero comments everywhere? Because that would be the case. Even anon comments can generate discussion.

Anon 7 - Rogers makes most of its ad money in Q3 and Q4, so no way on earth would Ken Whyte rock the boat right away and risk upsetting that cash flow. But once the holiday issues are wrapped up and revenues take their seasonal dip, he will be free to shape his senior leadership team the way he sees fit. And, he will. As Seagal had his ideas of who should do what, Whyte does too. Watch.

Well, no surprise really, since Kerry was competing with Ken for publisher positions. When he got Chatelaine over her, I'm guessing it was the beginning of the end for her. Clearly they see things differently. The thing Ken values most other than success is loyalty to his vision. Hard to argue with it.

To Yvan a.k.a. # 6 - I agree with you that it's sad a person is unable to identify themself when commenting. Unfortunately, the sad reality is our industry has too many who do not believe honesty is the best policy. Fine if you agree with them, but if not, payback can be harsh. A negative comment, true or not can come with long term and costly results. I would be surprised if, assuming your name is true, that you don't hear comments. Of course, with your courage of giving your name, you said nothing.

it is curious why some would post anonymous comments, it takes courage sometimes, I believe anonymous comments have absolutely no value.

The real problem at Rogers Publishing is not too many chiefs, but the convoluted organization of excessive dotted line reporting. Mercifully the architect of that disaster has finally retired. Hopefully the new president will provide better judgment and a happier environment.

The guillotine will see a lot of use this fall.

At long last, the axe is swinging at the right level. One big of the big problems has been Rogers has too many chiefs. But before I start to celebrate the wisdom, I think I'll wait for the full story to unfold.
