Impact Magazine asks readers to vote on cover personalities
Impact magazine, a source for sports performance, health and fitness information, is doing something a little different to choose the cover for its 20th anniversary edition next month: The magazine is inviting readers to vote for their top male and female athletes, who will in turn grace the front of the anniversary issue.

There has already been more than 3,000 votes cast since the invitation opened in late July, according to the magazine. Voting closes this weekend.

"Our Top 20 in 20 Years vote has been an overwhelming success thanks to our readers, and I'm as anxious as anyone to open the ballot box and see who will be on our cover for our 20th Anniversary Edition," said Impact publisher Elaine Kupser.

Some of the top athletes that can be voted on at www.impactmagazine.ca include Lisa Bentley (11-time triathlon Ironman champion); Kurt Browning (four-time world figure skating champion); Theoren Fleury (Stanley Cup Champion and 2002 Olympic gold medallist); Clara Hughes (Olympic medallist in speed skating and cycling); Cindy Klassen (Five speed skating medals at the 2006 Winter Games); and other big Canadian names such as Steve Nash, Catriona Le May Doan and more.

Impact was launched in 1991 with Calgary Flames rising star Theoren Fleury on the cover of Volume 1, Issue 1. Since then, more than 140 athletes and sports personalities have been featured on 120 Impact covers.
