Hush Magazine a new voice in Vancouver
It's called Hush Magazine, but its content speaks loud and clear.

The new Vancouver-area independent quarterly print publication, with a 75,000 circulation, is aimed at area residents under 35 and recently published its second edition, The Naked Issue. The magazine, with a slogan "raw, honest, local",  has created some following and even shocked a few with its unabashed content, said Zack Grimmer, marketing manager and founding team member.

The Naked Issue depicts an obscured but clearly unclad body on the cover, while the website pushes features with titles such as Act like a porn star, don't become one and Fighting for the right to be bare-chested.

The feedback so far has been largely positive, added Grimmer. "So far, so good," he said. "We've received some praise for becoming more relevant to young adults ... at the end of the day, we consider ourselves a form of entertainment."

The magazine is free and ad-driven. He said there are plans to launch an online publication on a monthly basis, and there is also a tablet edition in the works, he added.

The magazine, distributed by Canada Post to targeted areas in Vancouver's core, is also a video production house, and recently produced a corporate video for PacBLue Printing in Vancouver. "We're kind of like a hybrid media [outlet]," said Grimmer.

A full-page ad in Hush costs $4,999, according to a media kit available through the magazine's website.
