Torontolife.com executive producer launches Aggregation Magazine
St. Joseph Media-published Toronto Life, FASHION, Where, Quill & Quire and Ottawa Magazine executive producer, digital Gary Campbell has launched Aggregation Magazine, an online publication which he says is “the first wayfinding magazine for the Internet.”
The idea behind the project, which Campbell began working on six months ago is to bring depth to five contributor-sourced topics which they find fascinating in each monthly issue. “There is such a constant stream of content online, you never feel like you really get a good sense of anything,” he says. “I wanted to provide a canvas where the contributors can talk more deeply about a topic.”
Optimized to look best when viewed on an iPad and created using web tools including HTML 5 and CSS3, Campbell says the project is more of a creative outlet than a business venture but doesn’t rule out using advertising down the road. “It is entirely self-funded,” he says. “Though I have no shortage of funding ideas that will be rolled out when the time is right.”
Aggregation Magazine is set to publish around the 15th of each month, and use a rotating roster of contributors, says Campbell. It can be followed on Twitter @Aggremag and read at Aggregationmagazine.com.
