Quarto combines four shows into one this fall
The fall Cottage Life show will be combined with shows for Canadian Home Workshop, Outdoor Canada and explore magazines in November.
Quarto president Al Zikovitz says combining moving the Canadian Home Workshop spring show to November, combining it with the Cottage Life fall show and adding Outdoor Canada and explore to the mix makes perfect sense because of the overlap in reader interest between titles. “We took a serious look at the readers of the magazines and were pleasantly surprised at the overlap of interest between titles,” he says. “Thought why don’t we bring the audiences together and do a super show, a great Canadian DIY weekend.”
Exhibitors buying space at the show won’t be charged extra, says Zikovitz and visitors will be charged one price for all four shows. “For people who come to the Cottage Life show from out of town it now makes more sense to come down because of the added brands,” he says. “Your spouse might not be a hunter, but is a cottager. It ties it all together so well.”
Zikovitz says he had the plan to combine the shows in mind when Quarto purchased Canadian Home Workshop and Outdoor Canada from Transcontinental last fall. “I don’t think we would have been interested in those magazines if all we were going to do was produce a magazine,” he says. We had a plan to do a consumer show for both brands. Canadian Home Workshop had a show, but it was going downhill.”
The combined shows will be held from November 26 to 28 at the International Centre in Toronto.
