RD Canada wins Rona custom mag contract
Reader’s Digest Canada is set to take over the publishing contract for Le Magazine Rona/Rona Magazine, beginning with the August 2009 issue. TVA Publications launched the bilingual custom magazine for the Montreal-headquartered home hardware retailer in March of last year.

Le Magazine Rona has a circulation around 320,000.
Reader’s Digest has published custom magazines in the past, RD editor-in-chief Robert Goyette said, but had none in its stable prior to winning the Rona bid.

About 320,000 copies of the magazine are circulated, mostly through Rona stores in Western Canada, Ontario and Quebec. According to Goyette, RD will use the same distribution model but may adjust the title’s bimonthly frequency.

Goyette and his staff are also considering a redesign, but the magazine will continue to focus on topics as renovation, shopping, and decorating trends. “It fits into the Reader’s Digest content,“ Goyette said of the aquisition. “One of our [Reader's Digest] bestsellers was a complete do-it-yourself manual. It’s not the same content but it’s in the same vicinity.”
