An exhausting week for magaziners ended in style Friday night with the National Magazine Awards gala at The Carlu in downtown Toronto. Writer, editor and teacher Charles Oberdorf received his Outstanding Achievement Award with grace, while Toronto Life was named Magazine of the Year, a fitting tribute to former editor John Macfarlane, who retired in December.
The Walrus once again led all winners with six gold and four silver (from 37 nominations). Special kudos to Québec Science, a magazine with circ just under 20,000, that took home both a gold and silver award, If you haven't already viewed the full results, they're here. We expect the NMA Foundation will post a ton of photos from the event soon, but in the meantime, here are some pics snapped by Masthead publisher Doug Bennet.
