The Grid’s Laas Turnbull joins ZoomerMedia
 
Zoomer Media has appointed Laas Turnbull as first audience officer, ZoomerMedia and co-publisher, Zoomer Magazine.

In the newly created position of first audience officer, Turnbull will lead the IT and digital content team in aggregating audiences across all media properties to leverage their combined impact and engagement.

In his role as co-publisher, Turnbull will support Gord Poland, executive vice-president and chief operating officer and Zoomer’s veteran publisher, to grow the company’s commercial success.

Turnbull comes to ZommerMedia from Star Media Group, where he was a member of the company’s executive committee, and publisher and editor-in-chief of The Grid. While there he executed various digital content marketing executions, received 15 National Magazine Awards and was named the world’s best-designed newspaper by New York’s Society for News Design. Turnbull previously help the executive vice-president position at Brunico Communications for four years starting in 2006, and was the editor-in-chief of Shift magazine. He was also the editor-in-chief at The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business Magazine, where he was credited with doubling readership and propelling the magazine to first place in PMB ratings among business publications.

The award winning Zoomer magazine is published nine times a year and according to Zoomer is Canada’s largest paid circulation magazine for mature men and women.
