Day of Action – on October 6, Creators have mobilized across Canada to send a message to Ottawa that the federal government needs to amend the Copyright Act to restore fair compensation to creators and publishers for the copying of their works by the education sector.. The government has yet to announce any plans to implement its commitment. That’s why the "I Value Canadian Stories coalition " is launching a Day of Action on Thursday, October 6. They hope publishers and writers will take part so everyone can collectively make it impossible for key stakeholders in Ottawa to ignore the call of Canadian creators and publishers to repair Canada's Copyright Act.
On October 6, they will be asking the industry to visit the "I Value Canadian Stories " website to take action in the following ways: SEND A LETTER: Enter your name and email address to send a letter to Minister Champagne urging him to take immediate action to fix Canada’s Copyright Act. SPREAD THE WORD: Join the conversation by sharing a message on social media to further press the federal government to support Canadian creators and publishers and/or to encourage others to send a letter too.
