Newspapers still reach four in five Canadians: Study

News Media Canada’s Newspapers 24/7: 2026, is the 13th study in its ongoing research series examining how Canadians engage with newspaper brands across print and digital platforms. Completed earlier this month, the research shows that 83% of Canadian adults read newspaper content each week. In other words, newspapers and their sites remain a major mass medium, reaching adults in traditional and online formats.
“For advertisers, that kind of reach is a big advantage,” the organization said. “The way Canadians access newspaper content has changed, but the audience is still there. The takeaway? Newspapers and their sites give advertisers a strong starting point – broad reach first, with the ability to get more targeted from there. Newspapers offer that scale, while still giving advertisers the flexibility to focus campaigns by geography, format and audience.”
