Glacier Media takes Vitamin Daily
Glacier Media Group has acquired VitaminDaily.com, an online lifestyle magazine for women, from publisher Daily Dose Media.
"We are thrilled to welcome VitaminDaily.com into our stable to provide fresh, local, female-focused content to our network," said Alvin Brouwer, president of Glacier's Lower Mainland Publishing division, in a released statement. "They have been pioneers in the growing field of native advertising and their expertise and relationships will be valuable as we continue to innovate in the digital space."
Co-founder Sarah Bancroft remains on board as editor-in-chief and president, while co-founder Tara Parker Tait exits her role as publisher to focus on her public relations firm, Tara Parker Tait PR. Vitamin Daily will retain its staff and head office in Vancouver.
"As an independent media company we have experienced tremendous growth over the past year and this new partnership will allow us to leverage and accelerate that growth on a much larger scale than we could have with private capital," said Bancroft. The digital mag plans to acquire more talent and push forward with more video and web-native ad opportunities, she said.
Bancroft and Tait founded Vitamin Daily in 2004. Since then, the site has spawned six editions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal English, Montreal French, and Moms & Kids) and scored wins at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards. Last year, it signed syndication agreements with The Canadian Press, The Huffington Post and Playtaxi Media. According to Glacier, its newsletters reach over half a million Canadian women a week.
