Exploring the strength of Canada’s magazine market
“While it is popular for media outlets to announce that “print is dead,” this is not the case whatsoever in Canada—2013 saw a steep increase in print magazine launches from 2012, making it the best year yet since the economic downturn of the recession in 2009.”
In a Talking New Media guest column, Amanda Raponi Hart, the information centre manager for Magazines Canada, has given an optimistic forecast of Canada’s magazine industry.
Among the highlights: Spill of U.S. magazines into Canada is lower than ever at 1.7% of total average issue circulation, Canadian magazine launches are on the rise, and 93% of students aged 18-24 still prefer to read print magazines.

I would love to see the research showing 93% of students 18-24 still prefer to read print magazine. I would think that the number that
actually read print magazines is much lower. I have two kids in that category and neither read print magazines.
