Susan Lawrence, formerly of Quill & Quire, passed away March 25 after a battle with cancer. She edited the Books for Young People section for twelve years since 1996, and left the mag in 2008. She will be celebrated April 13 at Trinity St. Paul's United Church in Toronto.

In its Spring 2013 issue, Humanist Perspectives notes the passing of Joe Piercy, vice-president and director of Canadian Humanist Publications, the mag's publisher. He was HP's editor from 1993-2003 and an editorial board member since 1983. He died February 13 after a bout of pneumonia. A tribute will appear in the summer issue.
