Quebecor combines sales teams to leverage knowledge
It was announced yesterday that Quebecor Media Inc. is combining its four sales teams — Sun Media newspapers, Canoe.ca, TVA Broadcast and TVA Publications into one group. According to vice president, national sales Philippe Guay the move was made not to cut costs but to better leverage the synergy between the groups.
“Currently when we pitch on a campaign or visit companies we have four groups that aren’t talking to each other,” he says. “What we want to do by putting the groups together is leverage across different platforms and deliver more value to the client.”
No one was let go in the restructuring and the close to 90-person team will remain in the Sun building on King St. in Toronto. The new team will be split into seven specialized groups focusing on newspapers, magazines, broadcast, online, printing, distribution and books. “Account executives will continue to serve clients' needs,” says Guay. “But now will be able to draw upon expertise in every area of innovative and traditional advertising to deliver the best results on a case-by-case basis.”
Guay says there are no current plans to combine the team in Quebec but they will take what they learn in Toronto and use it for future consideration.
