Bottom drops out for Bois & Cie
An unsteady economic environment has lead to the closure of Quebec-based Bois & Cie magazine. The woodworking magazine was launched in 2008, but as advertising sales decreased, “the bottom dropped out,” according to publisher Claude Roy.
The French-language title was published four times a year and had a circulation around 4,000. Approximately 300 readers subscribed to the magazine, but Roy says he didn’t have enough funding to invest in circulation growth. “There is a limit and it was reached.”
All subscribers were reimbursed following the released of the final issue in March, said Roy, who remains publisher of Wood Focus/Focus Bois, which has been around since 1984.
