Company of Women presents "Women in the Media"

A panel of three established female journalists will be speaking about how media impacts the lives of women. The event, “Women in the Media,” will be held Feb. 27 at the Verity Club in Toronto, organized by Company of Women.

The speakers are Linda Lewis, current editor of More, former Homemakers editor and current freelance writer Dianne Rinehart and former Chatelaine editor Rona Maynard, author of My Mother’s Daughter. Kathryn Bechtold, founder of Calgary-based The Mompreneur Networking Group Inc. and publisher of Mompreneur Magazine, will moderate the panel.

The night includes networking, dinner and the panel. The event is for women only. Tickets are $50 for members and $65 for non-members. An extra fee of $5 is added for those who purchase tickets at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and the panel is from 7-9 p.m.

Bios
Linda Lewis became EIC of More in August 2006. Previous to this venture, she had been EIC at Today’s Parent since 1998. Lewis has her Masters degree in magazine journalism and also worked at enRoute as executive director. She has won numerous awards for her work at Today’s Parent.

Dianne Rinehart was EIC of Homemakers and was offered the position of editor when More was starting in Canada. Rinehart turned the position down to pursue her Masters degree, focus on writing a newspaper column and teach University students.

Rona Maynard was the EIC of Chatelaine for over 10 years. She recently published her autobiography, My Mother’s Daughter. She was also a contributing editor to Flare and Pathways, among other ventures.
