CJC-CCJ accepting funding applications until October 14

The Canadian Journalism Collective (CJC-CCJ) has announced that applications for its year-two funding program are now being accepted through its online portal until Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Funds distributed under the Online News Act help support Canadian news businesses producing local, regional and national content, while also promoting sustainability, equity and innovation. $500 million will be disbursed over five rounds of $100 million each, with administration of the second round beginning in Fall 2025.
The CJC-CCJ is an independent organization created by and for Canadian news businesses to ensure fair and equitable distribution of $100 million annually from Google to news organizations across the country. Born from Canada’s Online News Act, it supports publishers and broadcasters from across the country – from independent local outlets to major networks, Indigenous news organizations to official language minority media.
