Canada Post and CUPW finalize tentative agreements

Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) reached tentative agreements December 22, 2025, for both the Urban and RSMC (Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier) bargaining units. After reaching agreements in principle in November of 2025, the parties have now finalized contractual language for new collective agreements that include wage increases, enhanced health benefits, and a weekend parcel delivery model. Both agreements are for five years and would be in effect until January 31, 2029.
The union will be managing the ratification vote for CUPW-represented employees. During this process, the parties have agreed not to engage in any strike or lockout activities. Both parties agreed to wage increases of 6.5% in year one and 3% in year two. For years 3, 4 and 5, annual wage increases would match the annual inflation rate in Canada’s consumer price index. Numerous other employee benefits will also be also included.
