Ontario publishers can apply now for OMDC funding
The deadline to apply for magazine funding from the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) is Thursday, Sept. 22.
Applications must be submitted through the OMDC Online Application Portal (OAP), and applicants are encouraged to start the process early.
The program is open to qualifying Ontario-based magazine publishers. Funding is for specific projects including "traditonal" print-based projects (circulation promotions, sales projects, redesigns, for example), "digital enhancement" projects (digital editions, web-based projects, for example) or combined print/digital projects.
Approved grants cover up to 75% of project costs. Grant totals depend on a publishing company's total revenue, with a maximum of $75,000 available for companies with more than $2 million in revenue.
A company’s corporate information must first be registered; this can be done by visiting the application page and clicking on 'Register'. Any issues with this step should be directed to applyhelp@omdc.on.ca.
In the meantime, publishers can register for an information session (register here) taking place July 21. The OMDC magazine fund will be discussed from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the OAP from 11 to 11:30 a.m. The venue is 175 Bloor St. E., Toronto, 5th floor (across from OMDC offices).
Registration for the information sessions will close at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.
Matt Hilliard-Forde is now the acting program consultant for the Magazine Fund. He can be reached at at 416-642-6627 or mhilliard-forde@omdc.on.ca.
