Coverssell.com launches
Circ3 circulation consultant Scott Bullock says he launched Coverssell.com simply because he loves covers. “A big part of my consultancy is working with newsstand, so it is a natural extension for me to get into talking more about covers because they are a big part of what makes magazines sell,” he says.
The site, which features Bullock’s famed Quiz Show and a covers Hall of Fame was inspired by his trip to the annual CDS Seminar this year. “One of the speakers was Samir “Mr. Magazine” Husni and another was social media guru Mitch Joel,” he says. “Husni was talking about what I call old school circulation ideas. He coined the expression about readers that count, not counting readers. On the other hand, Joel was basically saying that our medium was dying and to get with the program. I think there were a number of people who were put off by his message. But I read his book and it got me excited thinking that social media is something that I should tackle.”
Plans for the site include am expanded Hall of Fame with covers Bullock considers to be classics of all time. “For me packaging is going to be a key differentiator as we go forward,” he says. “That’s why I created the site because I’m a big believer in packaging. If it helps sell more magazines than it’s good for all of us.”
