Kenilworth opts not to renew contract for golf association mag
The CGSA plans to continue publishing the magazine.

After 19 years of contract-publishing GreenMaster, a magazine for members of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA), Kenilworth Media Inc. has decided not to respond to this year’s RFP. “The publication is so little,” said Ellen Kral, group publisher and co-owner of Kenilworth with her husband Rudy. “It’s really not of interest to us anymore. We believe in doing association publications if they make money, but we are not a not-for-profit organization like they are.”

The bimonthly magazine has a claimed national circulation around 5,000 and covers topics of interest to those in the Canadian golf course and turfgrass management industry.

“We will continue to publish the magazine,” says CGSA executive director Kenneth S. Cousineau. “We’re currently in the middle of RFP process that we expect to complete sometime in mid-to-late September.”

Kenilworth will publish the remaining issues of GreenMaster for 2008. The magazine’s staff will be shifted over to other Kenilworth magazines next year, Kral said.
