Quill & Quire turns 80

Quill & Quire
, Canada’s guide to the book publishing industry, is celebration its 80th anniversary by showcasing 80 people, events and books that helped shape CanLit in its April issue.

Deciding who and what to include was quite a process according to editor Sue Carter:

We called on experts, and spent hours with our image archive, sorting through fresh-faced author photos and candid snaps of book launches, dance parties, and fairs. There was early talk of ranking the entries, but who wants to pit Alice Munro against Anne Shirley?

It is by no means a definitive list. There are the obvious inclusions the moneyed prizes, literary stalwarts, and dominant publishers are all here—but we also selected quiet moments that may have slipped by unnoticed but were in some way meaningful to various communities.

Quill & Quire is published 10 times per year and reaches over 15,000 Canadian book-publishing professionals (3,920 monthly paid circulations). Copies of the celebratory April issue is out now.
