The memory of Kenneth R. Wilson, who many regard as one of Canada’s best business writers will be honoured again this year at the 60th anniversary edition of the KRW awards.

The awards will take place on June 3, at the Grand Banking Hall at One King West Hotel and will recognize the work of Canadian business-to-business magazine content.

Communications manager Émilie Pontbriand said every year a team of volunteer judges are recruited to assess the entries. For each prize category, a single jury of three industry professionals and/or specialists reads and assesses all entries received in a given category, based on a number of criteria. There are separate juries for English and French entries. The judges deliberate for several weeks, assign a numeric score to each entry, and the average scores determine the finalists and winners.

This year they received almost 550 entries and from them, 174 of have been nominated. Pontbriand noted that there will be a few changes this year. Allan Britnell, managing editor of Renovation Contractor and president of the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors will be the new master of ceremonies and a former category is making a return.

“After a four-year hiatus, the Canadian Business Press and the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards are pleased to accept nominations again for the Harvey Southam Award for Career Achievement,” she said. The Harvey Southam Award, which is open to everyone working in the industry, is the highest individual honour bestowed by Canadian Business Press.”

The deadline for the Harvey Southam Award is May 9, visit the website for more information.
