TC Media launching television production house
TC Media is taking the plunge into television production with a new operation to be based in Montreal.
TC Media announced it will be opening a television production house in June to "create content for all communication platforms, from TV channels for general consumption to new Internet and mobile media for on-demand delivery."
This doesn't mean TC magazine content will be repurposed into television documentaries (like Walrus TV is doing with its magazine content), noted TC spokesperson Katherine Chartrand. "However, we will create brand extensions, and therefore leverage our brands on all platforms with enriched content," she said. "Our goal is to create a stronger synergy between all our content."
TC Media will not have its own television channels, but rather it will produce content and "work with partners" to broadcast it, noted Chartrand. Advertisers will be able to buy a package deal across all of TC Media's platforms, including internet, print and web, through its 360 Solutions team.
The new production house will be headed by Philippe Lapointe, senior vice president, multiplatform development solutions. TC Media also announced the appointment of Sylvia Côté as general manager and executive producer, and Catherine Lejeune as development director.
Natalie Larivière, president of TC Media, offered, "starting a production house is key to our strategy of developing a multimedia offering for TC Media customers and consumers. It means that the content produced can now be delivered on multiple platforms — print, television and digital — providing more effective communication between audiences and brands."
