VIA engineers new look for Destinations magazine
VIA has engineered a new look for its Destinations magazine.
In addition to new columns, "We have reworked the graphics grid under the direction of Benoit Martin who, among other things, is the artistic director of M and XY magazines, so as to allocate more space for graphic elements, which gives the publication a far more compelling personality," said editor Luc Boulanger. "We've also streamlined the information management to make the magazine more enjoyable to read."
The April 2012 issue is a women's edition, and the editors have selected a number of Canadian women to profile who are "models in their professional field". They include CBC journo Amanda Lang and Olympic medallist Jennifer Heil.
On the cover of the redesigned magazine is young Quebec singer Cœur de pirate — "we wanted to portray this breath of fresh air flooding over the magazine," noted Boulanger.
New columns/sections includes In My Suitcase, which kicks off with a look inside the overnight bag of Groupe Germaine chief executive officer Christiane Germaine. Topp Apps is a new tech column, while Portfolio shows off work from an emerging photog, said Boulanger in his magazine editorial.
VIA Destinations magazine is a bilingual magazine published by Éditions Gesca six times a year providing reading on board VIA trains, as well as on VIA's website at viarail.ca.
