Newsstand seminars and awards coming Monday
A day of informative seminars offered by the Circulation Management Association of Canada (CMC) is coming this Monday, and the winners of the Canadian Newsstand Awards will be crowned during the event. 

The day' s discussions, at The Spoke Club (600 King St. W.) in Toronto begin Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. with Newsstand Globalization and Beyond with speaker Martin McEwen of LMPI. At 3:45 p.m., Earl Sazant of Promag Display-Corr leads a Point of Purchase 101 discussion.

The cost of the CMC Single-Copy Seminars is $49 for CMC members, $69 for non-members. Registration is available through the CMC website.

At 5 p.m. the winners of the 10th annual Canadian Newsstand Awards/Grand prix d’excellence en kiosque will be announced. Thirty magazines from a full range of Canadian publishers have been named finalists. Category winners will each receive a share of the $24,000 in credits towards promotional programs provided by awards sponsor LS Travel Retail (formerly HDS Retail) — a 30% increase in total prize money from last year.

Mary Cosgrove, National Account Manager of The News Group, has been named Newsstand Marketer of the Year and will be recognized at the event.

The evening will wrap up with a CMC social from 6 p.m to 8 p.m.
